We are seeking compassionate and motivated Sessional Residential Child Care Workers to join our dedicated team supporting neurodiverse children and young people within our house in East Ayrshire.

This is a rewarding opportunity to provide high-quality, therapeutic and person-centred care within a residential setting.

Responsibilities

Build positive, warm and meaningful relationships with children and young people
Provide safe, inclusive and nurturing residential care
Support young people with daily routines, personal care, education and activities
Encourage independence, choice and participation in decision-making
Promote healthy routines, boundaries and positive behaviour
Contribute to care planning, reviews and risk assessments
Maintain accurate records and written reports
Work collaboratively with families and partner agencies
Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and children’s rights
Use de-escalation strategies and approaches

Requirements

A genuine passion for supporting children and young people
A compassionate, respectful and non-judgemental approach
Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends
Strong communication and team work skills
Commitment to SSSC registration and relevant qualifications (or working towards)
Experience in residential care or disability support is desirable but not essential
Driving Licence (required)

Education

Certificate of Higher Education (Preferred)

Experience

Experience supporting children and young people with additional support needs, disabilities, or complex behaviours.
Experience working in residential childcare, education, social care, youth work, supported accommodation, or a related setting.
Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends and school holiday periods.

Applicants should hold, or be wiling to work towards:

A qualification recognised by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) for registration as a Residential Child Care Worker.
Must be able to register with the SSSC and maintain registration throughout their employment.
An SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) SCQF Level 7 and/or HNC Social Services would be advantageous.
